West Ryde Long Day Care isn't a chain. It's a single neighbourhood centre with a stable team, an on-site chef, and families who often stay with us for years. The page you're on is for the parts of "about us" that don't fit on the homepage: who we are, how we got here, and what we stand for as a service.
West Ryde Long Day Care is one of four early childhood services owned by Eikoh Seminar Australia Pty Ltd, a Japanese-owned education company that has operated long day care and preschool services in Sydney for more than three decades. Our sister centres are Normanhurst Child Care Centre, Roseville Kindergarten, and St Ives Chase Kindergarten.
Each centre is run by its own director and team, with day-to-day decisions made on the ground by the people who know the children. Group support sits behind the scenes for things like compliance, finance, and administrative continuity. The four centres share a philosophy and a child-safety standard, but each one has its own personality.
The centre on Mons Avenue opened in 2007. The location was chosen for its proximity to West Ryde Station and the West Ryde shopping precinct, so families could combine drop-off with their commute or weekly errands without a separate trip.
From the beginning, the centre was built around four age-grouped rooms (Joeys, Jungle, Star and Rainbow), so children move up gradually as they grow rather than all at once each January. That model has stayed constant.
The menu is cooked on site: vegetarian diets are catered for directly in the kitchen, not as side options. Many of our families have been with us for years.
Our director, Corinne, has been with West Ryde Long Day Care for more than 18 years. Several of our educators have been here for over a decade. That continuity is one of the most important things we can offer a child: the same warm, familiar adults across the years they spend with us.
Our chef, Lorna, joined us in 2021 and cooks every meal in the centre's kitchen. You can read more about meals on our menu page, and meet the rest of our team on the homepage team section.
The centre's full philosophy and mission statement is published on its own page, and we encourage families to read it before enrolling. In short: we believe young children learn best in calm, predictable environments where they're known by name and where their family is part of the picture. We follow the Early Years Learning Framework. We are aligned with NSW Health's Munch & Move guidelines. We meet the National Quality Standard.

Child safety is the foundation of every other decision we make. Every educator and staff member holds a current Working with Children Check. We have written child protection policies, and educators are trained in them every year. We are a child-safe organisation in the sense that the National Principles describe: children have a voice, families are listened to, and concerns are acted on without delay.
Our policies are published in full on our policies page, including positive behaviour guidance, sleep and rest, what we feed the children, and the privacy policy that governs how we handle photos and family information.
West Ryde Long Day Care Centre acknowledges the Wallumedegal People of the Eora Nation, the Aboriginal Traditional Custodians of the land on which we play and learn. We pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.
The best way to get to know West Ryde Long Day Care is to come on a tour. You'll see the rooms, meet some of the educators, see lunch being prepared, and get answers to the questions you actually have rather than the ones a brochure pre-empts.
Tours run weekly. Call 02 9858 5333, email director@westrydeldc.nsw.edu.au, or book a tour online.
The best way to know if we're a good fit is to walk through. Meet the team, see the rooms, smell what's cooking.
